Loves Capabilities

they all love you…
my friends,
family,
they do!
they tell me so…
constantly
the charm, the wit,
the adorable ways of which
you love me.
all chivalrous and conforming.

they wish me to be more like you,
like them…
yet, each morning i wake,
and i am me.
none of the above
of which you all seek.

can i still be loved?
the unconventional me?
or must i sustain the constant
ridicule, judgment, passiveness?
just love me, is all i ask…
the madness that is me
i take the vow, to love in return,
as capable as me can be.

  1. Arent many of us yearning for the acceptance. Accepted exactly as we are. This unconditional love? One if for sure, I do!
Yet unconditional love isnt so easy to by either.
The daily judgement and comparion are denying and defying the reality.
Creating a cruel reality for the person wanting to be accepted.
    I am what I am.
    Mill of hugs. Paula

  2. We are all unique creatures of nature and a
miracle - it is upsetting when others do not
see our uniqueness as a gift.
Your poem is honest and speaks for many
of us who strive to remain true to ourselves.

  6. Differences are what make the fruit bowl so beautiful and vibrant. Embrace you, and turn from all who don't. I think you are fabulous and amazing!

  13. You smart lady... been missing you. It's always great to read you.
How many times do we do as we are expected? How many times must we prevent ourselves from being the ones we really are so as to be looooved?

At this time of my life, I'd rather be myself and be loved only by those who accept me just the way I am, despite the madness, the mistakes, and the same mistakes again...

  19. Continue being you, continue being you. It takes a strong person to allow their true self to be seen - and you share so much in your poetry - love it. =)
