what if this kiss
was our last?
what if good-bye
was forever?
the time we held each other,
only a memory
distance escaping us,
what if…
we were no longer?
would you remember me?
remember us?
what we could have been?
what if…
two words,
two souls,
lost, eternally
would you…?
remember me?
what we were?
what if,
good-bye was forever?
our last time,
our last
So lovely and sad: Something I'm sure anyone who has been in love wonders. It reminds me of Shakespeare's line: Parting is such sweet sorrow.
ReplyDeleteit would break my heart...but only because of the memories...smiles.

so long as we've got time
this one really got me :)
ReplyDeleteIs love ever forgotten? Shoved into corners, back burners, crockery on pantry shelves perhaps. Forgotten? I doubt it. Haunting poem.
ReplyDeleteThat was very beautiful. Losing someone you love so dearly can be very tough.
ReplyDeletea poignant poem, kay.
ReplyDeleteOn Sunday morning It makes me lovely tears... thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh Kay, so sweet and sad. I try to learn that if's arent of any use yet... Love from Spain
ReplyDeleteyou voice my biggest fear.... Kay this was soulful!
ReplyDeleteYep - sometimes it's good, not to ask too many "what if" questions..
ReplyDeleteGood-byes are to be taken into consideration , yes, but if you do, then there come the what IFs and you cannot enjoy the very moment...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and so melodic and melancholic too.
;)
Great poem. I love the graphic too. I used to go through the "What ifs" way to often. Now though, it doesn't matter as much. We've had so much together, tomorrow just doesn't matter as much.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully etched...loved da questioning uncertainty accompanying one of the most wonderful moments that a couple can go thru.....
ReplyDeleteluvd it! :)
fear lurking in evry relationship.....touching :)
ReplyDeletei went through this..many of us do....and i think i have nt been completely healed.
ReplyDeleteif it comforts you to know ...i m still learning to get through!
This hits hard. Those questions have been answered in my life. And the answers, I'm learning to live with.
ReplyDeleteyou always reach past the "rind".
ReplyDeletethats a very good question.... *sighs*
ReplyDeleteI like to think when I kiss somebody like that... *points up* they will remember it for all there life otherwise why kiss them at all..
What if... so what... none can take away it away from us.
ReplyDelete"What if" is our fear, trying to take away from us the joy of life.
nice post

Kay .. personally I have not had this
experience ....... honestly can not respond.
Very thought-provoking. I think love always lives on.....somewhere.....within all of us.
ReplyDeletePG
What deep and beautiful words in this poem. Your words help us appreciate life in the moment and remembering the very best of love and life.
ReplyDeleteThis kiss might be our last but I won't forget it ever. I'll remember you and your love forever...
ReplyDeleteyeah..what if
ReplyDeletevery beautifully written kay..you simply took me somewhere i thought is over for a while..but i loved it!touched...
You never know when the last kiss will be the LAST kiss - I say make every one count!
ReplyDeleteisn't that what one hopes for -
ReplyDeletethe ultimate
