What If?

what if this kiss
was our last?
what if good-bye
was forever?
the time we held each other,
only a memory
distance escaping us,
what if…
we were no longer?
would you remember me?
remember us?
what we could have been?
what if…
two words,
two souls,
lost, eternally
would you…?
remember me?
what we were?
what if,
good-bye was forever?
our last time,
our last

  1. So lovely and sad: Something I'm sure anyone who has been in love wonders. It reminds me of Shakespeare's line: Parting is such sweet sorrow.

  4. Is love ever forgotten? Shoved into corners, back burners, crockery on pantry shelves perhaps. Forgotten? I doubt it. Haunting poem.

  9. Yep - sometimes it's good, not to ask too many "what if" questions..

  10. Good-byes are to be taken into consideration , yes, but if you do, then there come the what IFs and you cannot enjoy the very moment...

Beautiful and so melodic and melancholic too.

  11. Great poem. I love the graphic too. I used to go through the "What ifs" way to often. Now though, it doesn't matter as much. We've had so much together, tomorrow just doesn't matter as much.

  18. What if... so what... none can take away it away from us.
"What if" is our fear, trying to take away from us the joy of life.

    nice post
