love can hurt

does it hurt me more knowing,
knowing that you just want me to be happy?
or
the fact that you are willing to let me go?

does it hurt me more moving forward,
envisioning how i was always happiest with you?
or
that, perhaps, you truly do care and i have deceived you?

does it hurt me more looking back,
remembering those kisses?
or
the ones we give to another?

does it hurt me more now,
that i wish i could be with you?
or
realizing, i will break his heart too?

  1. Happiness is fleeting;
    grasp it while you may
but let go of it lightly -
    it will come another day.

  4. Very nice. Wonderful flow. I love the balance of it. It is either this or that...
...Or maybe a little bit of both?
    Well done. Love/ Jo.

  5. Don't know if you've heard this song by Missy Higgins...or even if this post is fact or fiction, but it brings this song to mind...

    "I don't know what I've done
Or if I like what I've begun
But something told me to run
And honey you know me it's all or none

There were sounds in my head
    Little voices whispering
That I should go and this should end
Oh and I found myself listening

'Cuz I dont know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cuz she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood." (Where I stood)

    Love
    Annie

  13. You can't be sure you'll break 'his' heart too. One day, when you start to look less pretty, guys will start leaving you instead of the other way around, you know.

  14. Oh but Dulce, one of the "others" is here and you are so busted.

I love this poem, even though it makes me terribly sad. And just in case I might not cry, there is Wine & Words's amazing lyric. Wow.

  21. 'Or' ... That's a metaphor for life: Will I wear blue jeans today or a skirt. Will I do laundry or read a book. Go to the movies or dvd. Marry or not. lol

Hey do you still have that little rocking horse ... in the attic perhaps ... somewhere!!!

  25. Has been nearly 30 years since I asked such questions, but I remember the looking back seemed to hurt more than the looking forward. The forward part turned out very well, thankfully! (As in 28 years together last Saturday).

  35. AH! The lament, the suffering, the sorrow, the forever returning thoughtful sadness--this is the sentence of the lover, the fate of all true human love.

That is why maybe I have been told of the beautiful never-ending love of God, Who, loves equally all and everything at once. Well, He should, He made it! --grin!
